A Forgotten Mega Man Series Returns
Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection launches on March 27, 2026 on Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. Published by Capcom, this is the seventh entry in the beloved Legacy Collection series and brings together all three mainline Mega Man Star Force titles — originally released on the Nintendo DS between 2006 and 2008 — in a single package for $39.99.
If you missed the Star Force series the first time around, or grew up with it on the DS and want to revisit it, this collection is the definitive way to experience it.
What Is Mega Man Star Force?
Mega Man Star Force is a spin-off RPG series set in the year 220X, a future where EM Wave technology has transformed society. You play as 11-year-old Geo Stelar, a grieving boy who bonds with an alien electromagnetic being called Omega-Xis after his astronaut father disappears. Together they transform into Mega Man and fight threats across both the real world and the EM Wave World.
The series was created as a spiritual successor to Mega Man Battle Network by many of the same developers, and like Battle Network it features turn-based card-based combat with real-time action elements. Each game in the original trilogy came in two or three versions with different forms and card sets.

Should It Go On Your Backlog?
Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection is a nostalgia-driven package aimed at two audiences: longtime fans who played the DS originals and want to revisit them, and new players curious about a forgotten corner of Mega Man history.
Add it to your backlog if:
- You enjoyed Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection
- You want a turn-based RPG with short, satisfying sessions
- You have nostalgia for the DS era of Mega Man
- $39.99 for 7 games feels like fair value to you
- You're new to the series with no prior connection
- You still have Battle Network games unplayed
- You want to wait for community reviews after launch
The Backlog Coach Take
Seven games for $39.99 is strong value if the Star Force series appeals to you. Each game runs 15-25 hours, meaning you have 100+ hours of content if you commit to the full collection. That's a significant backlog investment — approach it game by game rather than trying to play everything at once.
