Snake's Most Requested Games Are Finally on PC

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 is landing on Steam in August 2026, bringing two of the most requested entries in the series to PC for the first time: MGS: Peace Walker and MGS4: Guns of the Patriots.

Peace Walker was previously only officially available on PSP and PS3. MGS4 never left PS3 at all — making it one of the most infamous console exclusives in gaming history. For an entire generation of PC players, Guns of the Patriots existed only as a YouTube playthrough or an emulation project. That changes this month.

What's Included

Peace Walker is a tactical action game originally designed for PSP co-op, set in 1974 Costa Rica. It introduced the Mother Base management system that would later define Metal Gear Solid V, making it essential context for anyone who played Phantom Pain and wanted to understand where Big Boss's obsession with building an army came from.

Guns of the Patriots is MGS4 — Solid Snake's final mission, set in a war-torn future where private military corporations have replaced traditional armies. It's one of the most cinematic games ever made, with cutscenes that could charitably be described as "ambitious" and critically described as "four hours long." The gameplay holds up; the storytelling is peak Kojima maximalism.

Both games are presented with updated visuals comparable to the Vol. 1 treatment of the original trilogy.

If you played Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and came away confused about Big Boss's backstory, or finished it and wanted more — Peace Walker is the missing piece. It's where the Mother Base concept originated and where several of Phantom Pain's key characters were introduced.
